We will start out with a tour of the Museo del Prado, one of the most important art museums worldwide. Right after, we will cross the Paseo de la Castellana, the city’s main avenue, and enjoy a coffee break at the Thyssen-Bormemisza Museum. From its terrace we will enjoy spectacular views of Madrid. Then we will stroll through the Hapsburg neighborhood, which retains the atmosphere of the capital city during the Siglo de Oro (Spanish Golden Age). We will walk by the houses where Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega lived. We will then have lunch in the oldest restaurant in Spain, founded in 1725. In the afternoon we will visit the 18th century Royal Palace, where we will have a taste of the lifestyle of the Spanish Bourbon monarchy in the olden days. It was a time when the cultural atmosphere at court was enhanced by the services of some of the greatest artists of the age, such as the painter Tiepolo or the composer Boccherini.
