Lisbon has succeeded in being both a marvelous capital which treasures elegant monuments, heritage of a rich past, and still remaining a charmingly relaxed and human-size city. We will start out with the central Praça do Comercio, which overlooks the estuary of the Tagus River. Right afer we will travel back to the Age the Portuguese Discoveries and explore the magnificent Jeronimos Monastery. We will then move to the more cosmopolitan and modern area of Lisbon, centered on Avenida da Liberdade. There we will visit Praça da Figueira and Praça de Pedro IV with the Maria II Theater. We will continue with the astonishing Neo-Manueline façade of Rossio train station and the impressive Praça do Marques de Pombal. The tour will end with a relaxed walk around the Bairro Alto and Chiado neighborhoods. Modernity and tradition are finely blended in their old streets, whose churches hide on the inside unexpected gems of baroque beauty.
