Is there just one single Catalan Art Nouveau style in Barcelona?
We will find out that Art Noveau is multiform in Barcelona. We will visit two gems of local architecture, which are both Unesco listed and were designed by the greatest architects of Catalonia between the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Catalonia. We will first enter the yet unfinished and world famous Basilica of the Sagrada Familia by Antoni Gaudí. We will then compare the masterpiece of this architect with the work of Domenech Montaner by exploring the spectacular though undeservedly much less known historical Santa Creu and Sant Pau hospital. A huge Art Noveau ensemble with relaxing gardens, this hospital conceals underground a network of tunnels connecting the elegantly decorated villa – like former medical wards to the old operating theater.
