LOS PATIOS DE CÓRDOBA, A SHOW OF COLOR, AND THE AROMA OF FLOWERS

Every year in May, the citizens of Cordoba open their colorful courtyards (patios) so that they can be visited as part of a competition to reward the most beautiful.

The competition dates back to 1918, and is sponsored by the city council.

The image of a Cordovan courtyard can trace its roots back to the Islamic house.

These interior courtyards were dressed up to impress, being distinguished by decoration with flowers which either hung from the walls or were placed on a Chinese-style paving specific to Cordoba.

Wells or fountains embellish the space, creating a beautiful image in which water, light and vegetation come together in a beautiful harmony.

It is a show that is worth enjoying and a perfect excuse to visit the beautiful Cordoba, the city of Three Cultures.
